First Buck

Hey ya'all thought that I would share my story. I shot my first buck this past December. It is a 7pt. Michigan Whitetail. It's weight was about 200 lbs. dressed. I only had three hours to hunt on December 2, 2006. It was a very cold morning. I was in my stand about a hour or so before day break. I sat there for the whole three hours milking it as much as I could and did not see a single deer.
As I got out of my stand bumbed to all heck I thought that my day was over. As my buddy and I were walking back to the truck we started to walk a ridge line. He was on one side and I was on the other. We were about 30 yards away from the edge where the field started and I heard a loud crash come up from the bottom of the ridge. Just then my buddy let some lead fly. (MISS) After that I saw the deer comming right to me. I drew up on him with my Traditions .50 cal. by that time the deer was right on top of me. I pulled the trigger and there he fell. The deer fell 14 steps in front of me. Not bad for a first buck but it took me 11 years to get this big swamp buck.

well thats a pretty cool first deer story, especially since you shot it with a musket, and running (even though its a big no no to shoot at a running deer especially since your friend was near you). Good luck next time
