Not too smokey here as I am
Not too smokey here as I am on the far east side of Springs but the hot weather and winds are supposed to not help. Fire is estimated at well over 2000 acres and growing by 1/4 to 1/2 mile per hour - in two directions NW and SE. With the Springer fire now at 100% containment we are getting firefighters from that area now.

Treasure fire just started up yesterday in Leadville. Closest one to me so far. Hopefully they get it in control before it gets out of hand.

I have been waiting over 20
I have been waiting over 20 years for the mountain to the south of me to start on fire. If it ever does they will never be able to put it out there is so much dead and down timber on it.
As for the rest of the fires here in Colorado it just doesn't look good with the temperatures suppose to be in the three digit range for the next few days and what storms that we are suppose to get will also bring lightning which just may start more fires.

MAFFS to help fight Colorado Wildfires
Just found this article PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - Four Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS) C-130 aircraft will assist in wildfire suppression in Colorado and elsewhere in the Rocky Mountain and Southwest regions.
Two MAFFS aircraft will be coming from the 153rd Airlift Wing in Cheyenne, WY, and two aircraft will be from the local 302nd Airlift Wing here in Colorado Springs.
It is not known which Colorado fires the MAFFS will assist in fighting.
The aircraft will be operating from Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. MAFFS are important because they provide a "surge" capability that is used to boost wildfire suppression efforts when commercial airtankers are fully committed or not readily available. This criteria was recently met.
