Fire Bans in Colorado

Will be heading out for Colorado in 2 weeks. Been looking for Fire Ban information and figured you guys might know. We're going to be setting up camp in the Winter Park/Fraser area. I have noticed that the state has been getting some much needed rain, but don't know if it has been enough to lift the bans.
Of course we would rather have at least a small camp fire, but if we can't, it won't kill us.

Kyotee:
The last I've heard is that Colorado will remain under a fire ban through hunting season this fall, which of course means no campfires. Not sure if they may possibly lift the ban, since you are correct we have finally gotten some MUCH needed rain this past week. It has helped tremendously.

What are you hunting? Elk, deer, moose? The Winter Park/Fraser area is noted for moose. That area is also in better shape (drought wise) than the rest of the state.

Good Luck!!!

Kyotee,

I passed through Winter Park about 3 weeks ago, it looked pretty green relative to other parts of the state. Although the fire bans are still in place. Remember to bring the propane fired grill!

By the way, you were interested in black bear hunting. We started running a black bear hunting article last week. Check it out here.

Cowgal, I'll be hunting bear in 2003. We'll be going later this month to scout the area and do some fishing.

Kyotee, have fun scouting. Should be a great time to go. Hopefully by next year when you come to hunt, the state will be in better shape (drought wise). Send us lots of snow this winter !

I don't know anything about the bear populations in that area. Let us know what you find.
