I see on the coons where you have the front legs hanging . What I do to prevent damage if the leg happened to get hooked on something . Cut around the front foot and don't split it open to pin it out . When I put it on the board and get it all pinned downI take a peise of good strong string and tie it around the front legs as close to the pelt as I can get it . Double loop the first not .That helps to keep it from slipping open then tie another couple to make sure it don't open and then I leave about 1/2 inch from the string and cut it off with the loose ends of the string .That leaves a very short leg fur and nothing to get hooked . The legs hav no value .Just a little tip to help prevent damage . Still a very good looking bunch of very well handled furs........I'll have a look and see if I have a pic of the legs done like that and post it if I have

Good tip Thumbs up I'll be sure to try that out next year. I'm also switching to all boards for XL or larger instead of the wire.

Furs

I have always used the wood stretchers . Thought about trying the wire but just never bothered . I had something that I liked and worked good so I didn't like to change . The pine is really nice to work with . When I went to get some pine I had the guy cut the sections that I wanted . With no knots along the edge that I had to work to get the right shape . I made the all by hand with no power tools . I uned a draw knife to get down close to the shap I wanted then used a J blade . That's the blade with all the cutting holes in them . Tapered the edges and sanded by hand . The jigsaw and a plane will make things a little easier to cut close to the shape ya want , then taper the edges. I have the measurements ifen ya need them
Here's what to do with the tail on the split boards .

You did alot of work, but to me that seems more satisfying. I have some measurements in a book some where, but if you wouldn't mind I'd like to see your measurements as well. Thanks Nail Thumbs up

furs

Well, I'll be damned if I can get the ones that I had . I had my computer wiped out and I lost some of that stuff . I just typed into google " nafs board sizes " The page opens up with a few links . Click the second link and that will take you to Trappreman, com ,then scroll dow to the post that says Board Sizes . Click that and you should have all the nafa sizes . I tried to copy and paste it for ya but It says this device is disabled . That's the sizes I use . Pretty well all my boards are Med. size . A larger coon just comes down a little farther on the board .This a good thing . Get the length I was told fron the nafa agent I deal with . A smaller coon comes down to the width it shouls be anyway . One size fits all ....LMAO.......

My son is picking all our gear up today . The season ends here the end of March . Our furs were were dropped of at the nafa depot last week .He's on call next weekend so he decided to gather it all up today .Hopefully he won't lug me home any more work ....LOL ..... JK ,I really enjoying doing up the furs .

I have the International Trapper magazine with the board sizes in it somewhere . I'll see if I can find that . Let me know ifen ya get the ones from T.Man . If ya can't find the ones on there ,I'll dig out the magazine and Take a pic of the sizes in there and post it
