filming your hunt

I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum the first time (archey for sale)sorry

I am purchasing a video camera mount for my compound bow.  I've always wanted to film my hunts  but; I have never had the luxury of a camera man to hunting with me.  Now, with this mount, I can film whatever I have my bow aimed at.  I would like some feedback from anyone who has filmed their own hunts.  Specifically of any trials or errors that you may have encountered. Or if you have any tips, tricks, or advice.

I have been wanting to film

I have been wanting to film some backcountry hunts the last couple seasons...

But the problem I run into is that everybody who wants to go out there wants to go hunt, not film.  Sadly in WA state we aren't allowed to have any kind of electronic device attached to the bow... no lights, rangefinders, camera, etc.

Two of my friends have offered to come along and film but it never worked out.

Best I have come up with is to keep a running film journal.  Three or four times each day stop, film myself talking about what happened.  But it sure would be cool to have some field footage to edit in with the narrative...

<edit> It just occurred to me that there are helmet mounts for sport cams... I suppose if I get desperate enough I could wear a helmet cam?  It would probably be canted at the worst angle while at full draw though...

Helmet cam

I just had to laugh at that one.  Very ingenious, though I think you are right about the angle.  I'm gald that I posted thi because It never crossed my mind that it might be illegal.  I will have to double check the the wording of the laws here in MI.

filming

As far as I'm concerned,  The camera isn't much different than a gun.  Aim at your target and shoot.  I would love the opprtunity to take turns shooting/filming with anyone.

Looks like ODFW commision is

Looks like ODFW commision is considering letting us use luminoks and having bow mounted cameras next year, maybe soon they'll let us use expandable broadheads,

I just ran across this...

I just ran across this... looks pretty cool.  Not terribly expensive, which makes me think twice about video and audio quality.  But if they could get the battery life up to 12 hours or so I might be down to try it out!

This would not count as electronic hunting aid in WA since it is a separate tool, like a rangefinder

Still the issue of camera angle on shot... but who knows?

That thing is pretty cool,

That thing is pretty cool, but i think your right you'd still run across the shot angle issue. i didnt read the whole thing but does it come with clear lens, i think the tinted lens in the early moring or evening or a stormy day could also pose a problem, but still i good idea if those few issues could be addressed.
