A few photos of my daughters first (real size) fishing trip (Nisqually river last summer) in WA

Took my 5yr old out to the nisqually river in WA state (where I used to be stationed) we were running 15lb test on a 20lb leader with the normal "salmon rig" (black and red yarn) drifting the river. She managed to pull in 2 that were 10+ and helped dad bring in the 34lb king (sadly it was a bit dark so had to smoke it). I am really excited to take her fishing up here in Alaska and let her really do some "real fishing". She already laughs about the small pan fish and wants to go for the big salmon (King fish) as she calls them lol.

Congrstulstions on some great

Congrstulstions on some great looking fish. And even better than that a great day of fishing with your daughter.

My kids are 18 and 21 now but I can't imagine what I would do if they stopped going with me.

i'm sure your little girl had

i'm sure your little girl had a great time, and she'll remember spending time with you for the rest of her life. i've had my 1 year old out catching bluegills a few times, but he's too small to really enjoy it yet.

it's cool you guys got some nice fish! with the washington state fish, are they mostly stocked  in the rivers and live their life out their (jack salmon)? or are they ocean run fish returning to spawn?

it'd be nice to go out there and catch dome of them some time. i've caught a few salmon in alaska, but never in the lower 48.
