FAVOURITE WAY TO HUNT DEER?

I do most of my serious deer hunting back home in SK and have a certain tract of bush that I like to hunt in, mainly because I know it very well, and because I have yet to see anyone else ever hunt in there. I know one guy bowhunts there, but once rifle season rolls around I've always had the place all to myself. I hunt almost exclusively from improvised ground blinds, by piling some branches around the base of a tree.

A typical hunting day for me has me arriving on stand 30min prior to legal shooting. My favourite morning site would be the at intersection deer trails - or overlooking an more open section of bush which multiple trails travel through, preferably one of the trails will show signs of buck activity: rubs, scrapes etc. Even if not, in the morning I'll hunt a trail junction over any other sign (find the does and the bucks will be along sooner or later).

I'll sit there until 1100-1200. Then if there's no decent activity I'll start still-hunting, stalking through and toward other areas I had pre-scouted. Although I'm alert for deer, the main purpose of this is to assess where the deer are moving if not by my blind, and if I feel necessary to find a new location for the next morning's hunt. (Usually I give a spot 2 days to produce, but if NOTHING comes down any of the trails I'm overlooking, I'll move after only a day).

Around 1300 or so I break for lunch and warm-up. In the evening I set up on a food source until dark.

Prefer the treestands, but have hunted from blinds and still hunted. During the rifle season I have done the sit in the truck method waiting for does. Nice and toasty and comfy lol

If there is snow I like to track. If there is no snow I like to find an area that is real thick with mixed growth and try to find an area that opens up filled with scrapes and rubs and setup either a ground blind or sit in the tree stand.

duck hunting, leave the rifle cased and an orange vest under the coat. if you don't see deer no problem atleast i didn't spend the entire deer season not hunting ducks.

Let me tell ya it is not an easy task to sneak up on a buck !! you are way better off in a tree stand and let the deer come to you if you keep the doe's arround soon or later Mr. buck will come to pay a visit
