Factory 243 Loads?

Going to be hunting Northern WI Whitetail with my old stand-by 243. Lost my reloading source so I am back to factory for the time being. Taken half dozen or so white tail over the years with the gun and have recently used my -06.

Remington Core Loct
Federal Vital Shock
Fusion?

These seem to be about all thats availabel around here in 100 gr 243.

Thoughts?

Welcome to BGH. Don't know squat about factory ammunition but the 100gr in 243 has to be fine, it's about as heavy as you can get! For shooting deer I suspect that all of those you mention will be more than adequate. But were it me I'd take the Remington Core Loct if they shot well and never look back. No bullet has the track record of the core loct, that says a lot. And nothing last's that long by being mediocre!

I agree with Don.
Doesn't appear that those Remingtons are going away anytime soon

Ditto for me. I am not sold on the whole fusion ammo thing either. The bullet wall seems too thin for my liking.

Core Lokts or Federal's loading of a Speer Hot Core bullet in their factory load is fine. Whatever you do, stick with the heavier 100-gr. bullet as was suggested.

243

I have used the 100 grain corelocks for 4 years and they perform perfect.
My Ruger punches a .75 group every time (if I do my part) and there is plenty of energy to knock the stuffing out these SW MO whitetails.

Go with the 100gr corelock. They will do the trick for you. It should give you enough puch to knock down a Northern WI buck. Just don't try to push the distance as compared to your 06.
What part of WI are you hunting. I used to hunt in the central part of the state (Clark County).

Thanks

Thanks. Without question, I will be using the 100gr. Didn't care for the Remington years ago when I shot the core lokt. The one deer I shot with them hit the lungs. Deer ran over 150 yds as the bullett had broken into about 3 - 4 little pieces. Even for a small fast bullett, thought it was odd. Any thoughts on the federal vital shock?

Federal vital-shock comes in a few different 100 gr. choices. The 100 gr. nosler partition should work very well for what you are looking for.

Here is the link to federal's list if you want to see what else they offer.
