Facebook?

Did anyone know that this site has a facebook page, with 71,000++ "likes"?  Not to mention the fact that it's active, in that someone from the site is posting material every couple of days.  So it's interesting that they are still active there, but will not reply to most private messages here.  I offered to bump up my moderator status to include being able to view/edit/post stories, maybe a blog, etc., and have not received a reply.  It's been probably 2-3 weeks since I did that.

Huh........

They were flat on "likes"

They were flat on "likes" until this week when they picked up 1200 likes.  They do have daily FB updates and they are different than those from Ourdoor Hub.  Wonder who's managing that and not the web site?  Think

That makes sense to me, have

That makes sense to me, have someone update and post on a free site and not worry about the one that might produce some revenue for them through advertising. :::]]  banghead

moderator

I tried to move a post from a place it did not belong in to the proper place but could no longer do it as we were allowed to before. Now about all I can do is delete it, edit it or private message the poster about it, heck anyone can do that.

I try and keep my two areas clean but I don't get on everyday or week even but I do still visit.

I agree, it's not the same as

I agree, it's not the same as it use to be. Other than spammers BGH isn't getting nearly the posts as they use to. I have had success having the new moderator answer my PM's. IMO the powers that be are spread way to thin and can't keep up with all of their sites.

You have to admit that

You have to admit that Outdoor Hub purchased this site after the previous owners created the contest to inflate the post numbers to make it look like a fantastic site with lots of post.  Once the contest went away so did 99% of the members that joined just to completed in the contest and win something.  It is too bad that Outdoor Hub didn't do thier homework before they purchased this site, if they had they may not of bought it.  But it also sad that they have taken the attitude of "we don't care" where this site is conserned, but then so has the moderators that are in charge of this site.  I have sent a number of PM's to them trying to correct some stuff or get information and not one of the PM's has been answered, even to tell me to forget it.  Even when they answer a question in a post they get on the defensive quite quick and then disappear again not to be heard from for months again.  Even one time when I sent a email to Outdoor Hub itself the answer that I got back was basiciy told me to go jump in a lake and that they were busy.

It is sad to see a site such as this one go down the drain because of what happened but just about all the water is out of the bowl and it is starting to gurgle.

Disagree somewhat
Pretty sure I have responded to a couple of PMs from you critter.
The Moderators are just regular members who have agreed to help keep the place clean and we have no special powers as far as the day to day running of the site and certainly are not involved in any technicial aspect of the site.

When I first joined this site almost 11 years ago it was plenty popular and was growing by leaps and bounds. That is why several of us were asked to be Moderators.

There were no problems with site visits numbers when the contests started even though I also believe that they were instituted to increase traffic, it's a business and is expected.
Most of the people I have had conversations with that have expressed an opinion as to why they have either stopped visiting the site or greatly reduced their visits here were mainly from the site failure that occurred shortly after the site was sold.
I am Facebook friends with the previous owner and I had to ask her who the site was sold to in an effort to answer the many PMs I had gotten regarding the site being down and not allowing members to reply to post. I had not been contacted by anyone from Outdoor Hub about who they were or even to ask if I wanted to remain a moderator even though I was asked by the previous owner to stay on as a moderator even after the sale, which I agreed to do.
I have sent several emails and PMs to the Outdoor Hub Webmaster about the issue but never recieved a response. Like wise I had PMed the moderator(not member mod but THE moderator) and recieved no reply. We, mods, do what we can but we aren't paid by the site and have limited powers.

In going through the site recently I have noticed the lack of new posts but I see alot of the older members still here and posting some and that, for me, is why I keep coming back....the members. I believe that for an International Hunting Site there are some of the greatest members I have encountered at any forum related site. They are always helpful, nice(most are anyways) and caring bunch of people. Most heated disagreements happen in the Politics Area but even that has cooled considerably.
I don't have any real answers about the site problems. I have not talked with anyone associated with the site about anything nor have they offered any explaination about the direction they are taking it so I am just as you are....un-knowing.

I, personally, have had some serious health issues over the last year and a half and I have concentrated on my recovery from that and going through the myrid of appointments, some to regional Medical centers, and physical therapy demands have kept me off somewhat. I don't visit any of the sites I use to visit as often as I just felt terrible too often!!  LOL
Butv be warned I am making a comeback and will try to visit more often and do more to keep the site clean.
