End of "A" zone CA. wrap-up...

Some of you may recall... took my oldest grandson on his first hunting trip(s) this year.  We didn't get one.  Point is:  No matter.

Without question the best grandpa/grandson experience EVER.  And that's saying a LOT because my grandson and I are best friends... since he was born, been doing everything together.  We explore, we experiment... he stays up til 3am with me viewing the heavens with my telescope.

I had been out of hunting for over a decade... this was my journey back, through my grandson.

The last weekend of hunting this year.. he is spotting sign, making educated guesses on where the deer are moving, and why.  Can tell a buck print from a doe, (most of the time).  Automatically eyeballs a vista first and goes to Binoc's second.  Drives the ATV on roads most adults would hesitate to navigate.  He's 13.  Points out 'beds'.  And most amazingly of all... stays quiet, does NOT feel the need to check his 'tech'... texts, email, in other words.

Yup, an incredible year.   I did good.

Sounds like a great year,

Sounds like a great year, even if you did't get a deer!!!

Can't wait to get my son out there.  He's already asking if he can go after deer with me.  I told him he can go with me for turkey in the spring.  But, I've never shot a turkey in 5-6 years of trying, so I hope he doesn't get too disappointed....lol

It was.  Now comes Quail Season.  Not to make you jealous, but a Turkey is a sure thing on my two ranches.

mostly, it was 'bonding', for me.  I made the right call.  I was out of hunting, got back into it for my grandsons... and it worked.  HE love it.  MORE than that.. he 'got' it.
