I wandered into this forum because I was looking to see if this is a real animal. My son found an article in Field & Stream with a picture of this "Abaguchie". I think it's a joke. It was the April issue!
If you see this as i do, the Abaguchie bears a strong resemblance to an adolecent Ewok. Ewoks are the furry little fellows that assist the rebellion in Star Wars, Episode VI, Return of the Jedi, against the Emperial Soldiers and AT-ST Emperial Walkers on the Jungle Moon of Endor. Though typically they're coloring is darker, there are some with light and even WHITE coats. Thought I'd through that out there...
There can be too much of a good thing with antler rattling.
I like to hit the horns together for a good 30- to 40-second rattling sequence and then hang them up and resist the urge to hit them again.
This works to the hunter's advantage, because if a buck has heard it, he may have been 300 or 400 yards away and he comes in and he's not exactly sure where it came from.
When finally is time to rattle again throw a slight change-up into the routine.
The second time, don't rattle as loud...
