Elkhead Fishing

Had a great 4th of July fishing Elkhead with the family. Oldest son caught his biggest pike at 34 inches. I got a nice 32 inch pike and we caught several 18-28 inch pike. We also took home 28 crappies running 10-12 inches. However my wife took home the real trophy with a 33 inch, about 20 pound channel cat. It hit while trolling a jointed shad rap of all things. First cat we have taken trolling but for sure not complaining. It is big enough for the Master Angler program in Colorado so she is happy that she will get her patch and certificate.

She thought she had a huge pike on the line but was not at all disappointed with the cat. Still hard to believe she caught it trolling a jointed Shad Rap.
