Elk update

The bulls area just starting to bugle a little bit, but mostly at night. Still a bit early if you're trying to stick one with an arrow. Not many below 11,000 feet where I was fooling around (several units over the last couple of days).
The vast majority of the deer we saw were under 10,000 feet also.
If you've got the time, I'd wait until the week after next to get after them with a bow. This weekend should be good, but it's going to be just as busy as this past weekend with the added pressure of ,muzzleloaders.
Still pretty warm too.
I wasn't hunting, just scouting and grouse hunting.

Not a one. Saw tons earlier, so we went out with the dogs and shotguns this week and saw nothing. Some bowhunters we were talking to saw lots of them a lot further into the drainages than we were going.

grouse...

You say you havnt seen any grouse. We saw atleast 25 or 30 a day up here. I got 3 shots with my bow with a flu flu but they all ducked the arrow. There were a few trucks up there with dogs kicking them up. Send me a PM if you'd like to know where i was hunting. This is the most grouse I've seen in the past 4 or 5 years.
