Elk Pics...Scouting on June 12th

I caught these guys in the spotting scope while out scouting last weeked. I am a bit surprised to see this much antler growth. The bigger bull is still working on his tops but some good lowers to him already. Sorry for the fuzzy pics they were taken through the spotting scope.

Note in two of the pics the smaller bull and the bigger bull in the lower left.

You know, I've been surprised by the early antler growth this year also. Had a cool summer and mild winter last year, a couple spring storms this year, but nothing serious. Combined with fewer deer to share the range with since 2007, the elk are really blowing out out some serious antlers.

I agree... the elk are really getting a good start on antlers. I am working up in RMNP this summer and the elk antlers are blowing me away. Too bad every bull isn't a 350 incher where I hunt. ha

Question about camera

Nice pics. Did you take these pics with a regular camera through the spotting scope, or does your spotting scope have a camera built in it? Also what parts are you from? Nothing like seeing nice bulls a couple months before the season to keep one dreaming!
