Elk or Moose

So, this is probably a little late to be asking questions like this, since the archery elk season in eastern WA opens this weekend. However, I've been up scouting some areas which are home to both elk and moose. This is my first time hunting elk and I was wondering how you can tell the difference in their sign, both tracks and droppings? I feel a little silly asking this, but I really need to know. Is there anywhere to look that might have pictures online??

Elk or Moose

First, Welcome to BGH
I don't have elk in my province so I don't have to be concerned. Google Image search for Elk track & then Moose track shows that they are quite close in comparison. Good way to spend an hour or so Thumbs up

Elk or Moose

Welcome to the site. I have no idea how to tell the difference. But I'm not sure elk and moose hang in the same knid of cover. If it's swampy and fairly heavy or lot's of water near by I'd expect moose. Moose eat a lot of water plants, elk don't.

we have alot of country here in idaho that have both moose and elk togeher in the same area. The moose tracks are going to be a wider than the elk tracks, also the moose droppings will be bigger, more plump. Telling there rubs apart will be much harder though. I have a place i hunt that has both moose and elk and it can be tough at times to tell the difference between the sign.

when you find the tracks and the poo...you'll know which is which. there's a big difference in the size of the droppings.
