Elk Hunting Craig

I am headed over to Craig, CO in a few days to scout possibilities. I only have a few days. Does anyone have any good info for me in that area? I am taking my father-in-law elk hunting for the first time second season and am really hoping to get him into some elk. I normally hunt 54 but i think that it will be to physically demanding for him as you have to be willing to beat the hell out of yourself to see any numbers in that area. Is it worth going to craig?

So much for Unit 7 huh? The elk population north(and south) of Craig is 8-10 times what is on the other side of the continetal divide. I drew an either sex tag for this year, first season for this area. I'm just tagging along with buddies who have done well there in the past, but I would suggest the serviceberry mountain area or several other spots north of the national forest, assuming you are hunting later in the season. There is BLM and state land around Bibleback and Camelback mountain that are supposed to be good. Talk to Terry with the Craig Chamber of Commerce, he is very helpful.
Forget about trying to get a hold of biologists or DWMs from the DOW right now. And the Feds (BLM and FS) are full of sissy environmentalists who know NOTHING about hunting (courtesy of affirmative action), including the "recreation specialists".

Ya not sure yet. Was talking to a guy yesterday that lives and hunts the deadman area and has for 20 years and he sugested craig. I have heard that from a couple of guys now so I am going to check it out this week and see. I have seen a lot of sign in 7 & 8 over the last couple weeks but haven't seen any animals or even heard any talking. Worth exploring the area I guess. Again, appreciate the input.
