elk hunting around Estes Park, Indian Peaks, etc....

I just moved to Boulder from Telluride -was planning to hunt one of my favorite areas around Telluride, but don't think I'll be able to make it back down.

Any advice on where to go on the front range? I need to stay relatively close to Boulder for work reasons. Any decent areas around Estes Park or near RMNP on the east of south side? I don't mind hiking several miles off the beaten path.

I went in to the Denver DOW office last week for advice and it was an absolute joke- they seem to only be interested in handing out pamphlets and selling licenses, but offered no usable advice at all.

Thanks in advance for any advice- I'd be happy to help out with recommendations around the Telluride/ Ridgway areas.

IPWA

I have made many fishing tip this summer to the IPWA and seen or heard elk every trip. On my last two trips I saw the same herd of elk on the NW side of Mitchell Lake. One very nice 6x5 was the head honcho with a handful of rag horns too. Something to consider.

Thanks- that's great news, and IPWA couldn't be closer to home!

Has anybody else seen or hunted Elk there? I was up a couple weeks ago and hiked to Lake Isabelle but didn't see any Elk, although it looked like perfect habitat.

I'll head back up this week to scout around again.
