elk elk elk

Just thought I would share my story.
Well we didnt get drawn for hunting this year...but since I have 3 weeks of
vacation I was definately going camping for a week that I would usually take for hunting. First 3 days the weather was cold and windy with some rain off and on...then the days became perfect...and the animals came out! My father inlaw and I drove through the forest roads everyday an hour before sunset and spotted a herd of elk which I was able get within 100 yards of practically every night. This is the week of Oct 2-10....needless to say the elk were bugling non stop so they didnt care how close we got. One night the elk were in front of our camp and I spot lighted them off in the to get a better look I drove my truck up the I came over the hill there were elk all over the road and on both sides just standing there. I was literally 15 feet from a 6x6 and behind him there was another 6x6 and behind that one was one with a smaller
rack but still at least a I looked around with my spotlight there were
20 or so elk back in the distance and the same thing on the other side of the road...I have never in my life seen so many elk. My heart was racing....I have been on 3 unsuccessful elk hunts...of course not in this area...but, I am for sure putting in for this area from now on. I know it seems kind of dumb for those of you who are reading this but it was so amazing to see these beautiful animals up so close after all the scouting I have done over the years. Yes
