Has anyone here hunted unit 28 in colorado muzzleloader. I am thinking about putting in for that unit any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be trying to draw without pp for either sex elk tag.

I can't help you on hunting

I can't help you on hunting it but it looks like you will need 1 point if you are a resident and 2 points for a non resident if you plan on drawing.

Last year there were 504 applicants for 200 tags for either sex.

?

Thanks for the reply critter these western states have so much information. I wason the cdow page and it looked to me like the hunt number was EE02801M and it was a 0 for PP. If I'm missing something please put a light on it.

Sorry about that I was

Sorry about that I was looking at the wrong information. What I would do is put in for the either sex tag for the ML season and as a second choice put in for a cow tag for the ML season. That way if you don't get drawn you should be able to hunt a cow and get to know the area.

Confused

Nick, I'm a little confused I went to your bio and read your "big debate". I'm confused,  you think it's wrong to eat meat and kill animals for meat but here you are putting in for tags and hunting elk? Mind clarifying?

Don't be confused!

Nick only commented (for eating meat) and did not create the post "the great debate".  That was JackSpellman.  Nick is one of us!  Yes

leaning towards 15

I drew for a PP this year I am leaning towards unit 15. I am still researching 28 though. I would rather hunt something higher and more open but i will only have 1 PP so ML hunting next year limits my unit choices. Still planning on backpacking in a couple of miles setting a spike camp up. I have three friends two of which have also hunted elk so I am confident in our ability to get everything in/out. Obviously the downer will be is if the area has no elk sign when we get there, but that is the challenge then isn't it.
