Edison Lake

Well I went up to the high country here in CA to scout for deer and fish for browns. We seen some doe's and one buck, and one huge black bear. Theres normally not as much snow this time of the year but I think every whare is running later this year.

The peaks behind the hoggetter II are 11,300 ft and there are some big bucks to be had at the tree line level, the lake sets at 8,000 ft.

We did catch some nice browns 13" to 16"  heres the first three. The pic. makes them look like 6"ers

   Its a 18 foot Intruder

Its a 18 foot Intruder with a 175hp sportjet for river fishing. I put a 8hp Honda on it for lake trolling and installed a autopilot with a wireless transmitter. Its pretty sick, the boat drives itself. I bought it back in 2000.

Damn Hog, I thought you only

Damn Hog, I thought you only hunted hogs and turkeys, not fished..... lol

Beautiful looking Browns. Love the scenery up there.  We may take a trip up to June Lake, or somewhere thereabouts in August before the wife starts teaching again.

Getting my cameras up now, hoping to FINALLY score a deer with a bow this year.

Hey, I also want to send you a PM about something.  Was thinking about hitting Bryson Hesperia Resort for pigs, and wasn't sure if you had any experience there.

I've never heard of that resort before, But I do know i wouldn't do any hog hunting in the heat of the summer. Some of the best pig hunts are in the winter till early spring. If you want a guided hunt in Cen Cal then call Golden west guide service 559-469-4442 These guys were hunting around but not on the ranch i just lost access on. They harvest alot of hogs but i don't know much about them.

I just talked with the owners

I just talked with the owners yesterday.  She said they hunt the rest of the month, and it's actually good right now because some of the ranchers have good crops of Barley they are harvesting now.  However, on August 1st, they shut down for 2 months due to the heat, and no more crops.  She said they open again in October, and that's probably when I would look at going.

Not sure how far up you are, but they border Lake Nacimiento, just inland from the Hearst Castle, and right down the road from Fort Hunter Ligett.

Thanks.  I think I may check

Thanks.  I think I may check out Tejon though.  Their "Management" hunts start in December, and it's $450, unguided, from mid-day on a Friday until Mid day Sunday.  You can camp for free, and it's noly 3 hours there, versus 6 hours, and much more gas to drive further north.
