Eat Tongue

Has anybody out there ever ate elk tongue?

The Bugle magazine recently had something about eating elk tongue, which I thought was half-cocked. They said it is good?!

But then who knows maybe more people eat tongue than I realize. confused?

I never have, so lets hear it. Who out there has ate elk tongue. Good or bad?

In many cultures tongue is considered a delicacy, as are other 'parts'. I grew up eating beef tongue on occasion and thought it was pretty good. So I imagine elk tongue would be similar, even though I have not tried it.

Hope that helps...

My Grandmother used to serve us cow tongue when I was a kid. I'll never forget the first time I opened her refrigerator door and saw this big 'ole nasty tongue staring at me! Gave me the shivers...
It's OK, but not on my list of favorites. I've also had a few burritos of tongue too (lingua?). We don't save the tongues out of our Elk, but I bet it is real similar to a cow.

I agree with Unit5a. "big' ole nasty tongues" give me the shivers too, regardless of what those other cultures do. (No offense though Cowgal )

Well can't exactly call "3" a consensus, but sounds like elk tongue isn't the "bees knees"...

I'm partial too back strap myself. Heart and Liver can be good sometimes too.

Some people probably go for the "brain matter" to (like they do with cattle). But that is definitely a no-no with this C.W.D. stuff going around.

Speaking of the grey matter........

You guys ever have brain tacos? You take a scoop of brains and put them in a corn tortilla and fold it over. Pin it closed with 2 or 3 toothpicks and deep fry until semi crispy. Then chow down!
I think I had three before I knew what it was. That is the kind of thing that can happen to you when you have friends of Mexican descent. Do you think the beers had anything to do with it? They thought it was rather amusing when I started to turn pale........
They (the tacos) aren't on my list of favorites either.

Yikes! 3 before you knew what they were...

A.) You were seriously hungry
B.) Beer had seriously effected your tongue (if it was tequilla not beer this can be assumed)
C.) They (the tacos) were very fried

In general it is a bad thing when all the buddies are telling you do something, then point and laugh while you do it. Hope you got'm back for their "kindness".
