Early M/L season this weekend

This weekend, the 20th & 21st, is Kentucky's early M/L season. I've done a bit of archery hunting already at our lease there and deer seem plentiful as is typical. Although I did not see an antler in three trips, there have been a couple nice bucks plus several 1.5 & 2.5 yr old bucks that have shown up on the game cam. I'll be using my CVA Optima and 100gr of triple 7 under a 295gr powerbelt, just as I have the last 6-7 years.

Anyone else planning on being out in Kentucky this weekend, or anywhere else for that matter?? Our weather looks decent; lows in the low 40s and highs in the 60s. No rain forcast, yet anyway.

Good luck to all that give it a go this weekenend, wherever it might be!! Thumbs up

Good luck out there.  I wish

Good luck out there.  I wish either of the states I hunt had an ealy ML season, but they are both in December after the other seasons.  Our rifle here in San Diego starts the following Saturday, the 27th.

By the way, re-scheduled the pig hunt I was supposed to take and use the copper ammo I was so nicely gifted....Wink

First weekend in December, it's on.......... 270,000 acres, approximately 4,000-5,000 pigs, and that was in February when they stopped hunting.  We will be the first open hunt of any size since the closure, so I can only imagine how many pigs are running around there.......

WOO-HOO, that sounds like it will be a heck of a hog hunt. I wish you great luck! I am going crazy waiting until January and the gifted hog hunt for the Marine. I still need to get the rifle sighted in and ready for him. It's still difficult for me to believe that several friends from all over the country donated $$ so we could give him a rifle & scope when he shows up for the hunt, a Ruger Hawkeye in '06 and a VX2 3-9x40 Leupold. I can't wait for that hunt.

We will also have an early M/L season in Tn, starting the 3rd and then it's rifle in Ky (10th) and rifle in Tn (17th) which will run til the 6th of January. Thumbs up If I happen to get lucky this weekend I'll post some pics Dancing

P.S. I bet your Dad is getting anxious by now too!

I read an article yesterday

I read an article yesterday about a group of hunters that are longtime members at the place I am going.  They were invited to go back in mid-August, sort of a soft reopening of the ranch.  There were 10 of them on a 2 day hunt, all archery, and 8 of them got hogs, with the other 2 having opportunities.  They said they saw more hogs than they've ever seen while hunting the ranch, and the number of piglets and wieners was amazing.

If the archery guys/gals went 80%, I gotta think my chances with a gun are promising..... Wink

Dad is getting excited.  Only 3 weeks and I fly back.  Can't wait to see how you do with the Marine.
