Drinking water?

Well we have our spot picked out where we are going to hunt. My ? is we have a water filter that we will have to use because there is no way of taking water with us on a 5mi hike in. Will the fiter be good enough to get good drinking water? Will be in CO

That'll work fine. And it won't affect the taste like iodine tablets. But you may want some of those also, just in case. And some gatorade packets to mix the iodine water with.

You should be fine with a high quality filter - one for each person, but I would have a second option with me as well. As previously stated, iodine tablets would be a great second option. Just about every mountain stream in CO, has a beaver house in it...which means parasites in the water. Check the filter's cleaning ability, many don't include the smaller organism and virus’s. Depending on when you go, melting snow will probably be an option too. Also be aware some of the smaller streams shown on maps are only seasonal or have dried up.

Have a great hunt.

Drinking water?

I sware by my Katadyn Pro-guide filter!!! Used it for prolly 40 gallons this past weekend on a backpacking fishing trip and the water tasted great!!! I have used it on some seriously ill lookign water before too and never ever had an issue! I believe it was a ~$100, but well worth it.

Boiling is def an option. When I did it this way I did boil it twice, seemed to get the taste a little better.

The KATADYN is a great filter system it weighs less than half of a bottle of water but can fill 5 or 6 bottles in just minuntes , one filter pump for 2 or 3 people is all you need , be shure to pump it dry when done so it won't freeze at night , a must have!!

This is what I use in the back country. I've never got sick using it and puts out a lot water.
