Birds are here! Tons around the State Wildlife Areas that I have been wondering around on along the Platte. I also saw crazy numbers out at Bonny & South Republican SWA in June. I think we are going to have a great year for all types of birds!
Doves are here and are numerous anywhere along the front range during the season. Just look for a place where there is a good watering hole for them and you should have a great time. Dove really isn't my thing, but I have and still do hunt them at least one day out of the season, mainly just to warm up my trigger finger for duck season.
Try to put your tree stand in a tree with plenty of background cover, keep the prevailing winds for that time of the year to your face, and take care of those pesky squeaks and creaks your stand may have developed while sitting in the shed. A good treestand lube can be made by heating petroleum jelly until it reaches a liquid form. Some hunters have reported success by including a cover scent in this mixture before applying it to their stands.
