Do you have to "CURE" modern inline muzzleoader ba

I just purchased my first modern inline... a Thompson Center Omega Z5 w/ thumbhole stock. I am very excited to get out and work up some accurate loads for my first muzzy hunt this year but I heard that you had to cure inline barrels much like the old cap and ball smokepoles. The oldtimer likened the process to seasoning a cast iron skillet but for some reason this just strikes a strange cord with me in regards to modern firearms.

Any suggestions?

hawkeye, i can tell you that I have been muzzleloader hunting for 8 years now with 2 different inlines and I didn't have to cure either one of them. Both were good to go right out of the box. My newest is a CVA Optima and it shot great from day one and has ever sense. Hope this helps you some and i will be interested to hear others take on this. Good luck with the new muzzy.

hawkeye i think t/c uses bergara barrels and they do not have to be seasoned.
some of the older muzzle loaders did and the best way to do it is with bacon grease poor it down the barrel and stand it up in the corner kinda like a skillet worked like a champ.

whitetail cva i know uses bergara barrels i have a optima elite and it will shoot shot for shot with the t/c pro hunter for $425 less.

Thanks for all the help guys... much apreciated. I'm looking forward to getting it out for the first time.

My dad built up enough sportsmans warehouse giftcards and got himself a T/C Pro Hunter. It is awesome but good to know that you don't have to spend quite that much to own a "shooter". He is going to get a 375 H&H barrel for it which ought to be fun.
