I recently bought an 1861 Springfield musket, 1863 Sharps saddle ring carbine, and an early Smith carbine. These type guns interest me. I am looking at a Spencer Carbine that was supposedly a local battlefield pickup gun. It hasn't been oiled(in a hundred years). It is in "fair" shape, at best. It's complete, with all correct furniture, but has alot of pitting throughout, with a decent bore. Magazine is stuck in place. Would anybody know if 1500.00 would be too much to pay for one in that condition? The action works on it. I'm thinking that some wood preserver and oil may would bring the gun back to life. If anybody is familiar with these, I would appreciate some advice.
