Got a note from a friend today that really hit home:

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he demands that they be outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants meat taken off the market.

If a conservative doesn't believe in religion, he doesn't go to church.
If a liberal doesn't believe in religion, he tries to shut down churches.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he changes the channel.
If a liberal doesn't like a talk show host, he tries to get him taken off the air.

If a conservative falls on hard times, he looks for a way to better his situation.
If a liberal falls on hard times, he expects someone to take care of him.

If a conservative wants health care, he finds a job that'll provide it.
If a liberal wants health care, he demands that his neighbors buy it for him.

Ayn Rand once said, "The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities."
