diesel or kerosene

Can I burn diesel in my kerosene heater? I have tried it in the jet heater and it was fine (It says fuel oil #2 or kero on the side) and was told that I can use it in the regular heater (with the round wick) but I wondered what you people think about that. The lady at the kero station told me the only difference was price. Said one doesn't burn any cleaner than the other.

Yes you can use diesel. I have used it before and met with the same results as those in CVC's link.

Another option if you can get it is Jet-A1 fuel. Jet fuel is pretty much kerosene. When I flew in for last fall's bear hunt, we bought 20 gallons of jet fuel out of the pumps at the airport to use in the cabin's drip stove. It worked great -- and according to IATA last week Jet-A1 was running just under $1.42 a gallon.

Turns out that the various grades of Jet Fuel, Diesel, and Kerosene are also very useful as a nitro power residue solvent for cleaning guns with Thumbs up

If those prices from IATA are true, then Jet fuel hasn't gone up much at all since I last piloted an aircraft, those look to be similar to late 90's prices.
