Did you kill it or did you harvest it?

Nice little piece on how killing is out of style but harvesting is in.

I agree with the author, politically correct "harvesting" has invaded our vocab for sure, although I don't think it does any damage to call it "harvesting".

Did you kill it or did you harvest it?

When im with friends I hunt with I will say I killed a great deer but when im talkin to someone I have just met I say that I Harvested or Got a great deer this year.

I have met people that get mad when you say killed rather than harvest because they think its wrong to kill but not to harvest.
In my eyes its all the same thing.

I've never given it much thought...I think I usually use "got". However I do think "harvest" is corny.

I don't "kill" or "harvest" deer. I usually say that I "shot" a buck/doe. Now all I have to do is see a buck so that I can kill/shoot/harvest/get him.

when it comes to terminoligy for hunting shot-kill-bagged-got one succesfully, they all work, 'harvest' sounds like in the fall for gardening, don't get me wrong i dont see anything wrong with the term in that fassion, it's just new to some i guess.

I haven't gave it much thought either but I usually say that I shot one, but where I come from you don't see very many people who are against killing animals, but when hunting with my dad, when I make a good shot, I usually say SMOKED ONE!!

Usually I don't think about what I call killing my deer/elk whatever it was but I NEVER call it harvest. Harvest if you're talking about animals & killing them is what you do when you butcher a cow!! And if you're gonna do that you just say butcher!! Usually when I'm telling my friends about a recent kill I get excited & tend to describe in a lot of detail. Which sometimes grosses certain ppl out just cuz they're squeemish. If I don't like them hehehe I have no problem grossing them out!! But usually I'll tone it down so someone doesn't throw up on me. I shot and killed the deer, elk, and bear and then harvested the meat. Dose it really mater, you still have to kill it to harvest it
Doesn’t mater if its fruit or veggies what ever you just picked or cut off is now going to be dead lol
