I recently watched this Eastman video. Some great footage on there. there is a Diy hunt in Colorado on there about two thirds of the way through. Anybody know what Wilderness area its in? Pretty country.
If it is the one that I am thinking of it is in unit 35 on private property. I have seen some of the largest mule deer that I have seen up there during the late elk hunts or while just up looking at them.
Unit 35 has a couple of wilderness study areas. Bull Gulch and Castle Peak. That area had a horrible winter kill a few years back. It might be a few more years before many mature bucks will be around. DOW needs to really cut back the number of buck tags in there, Eagle County genetics is some of the best in the state.
There are times when the deer are simply not moving and you're forced to make something happen. Maybe you're up against a full moon or hot weather. This is when a silent drive to force deer to move should be considered.
By silent drive, you're not yelling and making a commotion to scare the deer. When deer are panicked, they're liable to bust out of the cover on a dead run, and any shot you get will be tough to make.
A silent drive is different. It means playing the wind to carry the driver's...
