Wifes first buck with a bow

My wife got her first buck with a bow this morning. I got a button head, and I knew it was a button when I shot it.
She made a perfect quartering away shot and it came right by my stand and laid down. Another buck came by and hers somehow made it to its feet and walked another 20 yards and that was it. It was awesome to see my wifes first buck go down. Awesome thanksgiving.

congrats on putting meat in the freezer........I'm not into killing little bucks though, it's just not good deer management! Let the little bucks grow into BIG bucks and you'll get a healthier herd. Then just concentrate on keeping your buck to doe ratio around that 1:1 or 50/50 ratio that makes deer herds healthy as well.

If there's that many deer around that you're out there killing so many of them, why not wait for some bigger bucks to harvest? And if there aren't any bigger bucks around, then you know the reason!

I won't shoot a an antlered deer in Ga that is less than 120 inches-3.5 years old min. My wife shot the first legal buck that came by with her bow (during the gun season), we only bowhunt. However ,one tract we have is a cleanout property and this is the only place on the planet that I would shoot a button buck( or any antlerless deer in november).
This being said, I have several tracts that have a 130 inch min including most of my Ga leases and all of my Missouri and Kansas leases. Go back and look at this thread and see if you see me with any small bucks. I won't shoot one. Button bucks are concitered antlerless
I am glad that my wife never looks on this site. She is very excited about her first buck with a bow and I am too. I would think that most hunters would be happy for someone who took their first bow buck.
So you want to say something about us shooting deer on 12 acres that will be gone by march, loaded with deer and inbreeding is obvious. BTW,this is the only property that our biologest does not advise us on.
Also, we have only taken three deer off of this property all season total. That is not that many. I am bringing as many people in december to kill off whatever they want.

Great season guys! I'm going to try again tomorro. Bringing my 17yr old and wife. I hope either one gets a chance at any legal buck they see.
