All of a sudden this year the deer are all over this is pure moose country where I live too so its not very normal to see them all over. Ive seen about 10, 2 bucks and about 8 does one dead (hit by a car). Also seen alot of moose this year too about 10 of those too but the ones I keep seeing are the same cow and calfs hanging out at the same spot everytime I think I found thier watering hole hopefully they keep using it and noone else knows they are there.
In Pictou County where Caper40 hunted last year, there is a better than average deer herd in my opinion We had very little snow(had the driveway plowed once) and that is basically unheard of in Northern Nove Scotia
just wondering if people are seeing deer this year this spring seen a few does with 2 fawns i live in cape breton so this is rare but just wondering what other people been seeing
I hunt Cumberland county and have yet to see a bad year , always lots of deer although bucks can get scarce the rut seems to happen late in nov, dec lots of bears around too "Happy hunting " remember look before you shoot
Out here in Colorado, and in the units that I haunt, it is a tricky game to figure out how far to pack in on a rifle hunt. You want to get away from the masses that have moved game away from the roads but might want to stay close enough that you are taking advantage of the animals forced movements. There is no universal distance but I like the 1.5 to 4 mile range for day hunts where I am not planning on bivying out. This keeps you in that productive buffer zone where the animals are really...
