Deer movement and moon phaze

I was thinking that deer would move more at night with a full moon and less durring the day. I was wondering if we would get more deer movement durring the day with a new moon.
Our riffle hunt starts on Monday Nov 5 here and there will be close to no moon and on the 9 a new moon.
Any feed back would be apreciated, thanks ahead of time for the info Thumbs up .

From my experience they definitely move more at night during full moon, and I see a bit more action during shooting hours with the new moon.

An article in the current issue of Deer and Deer Hunting, which I got and read today, says that moon phases show little or no correlation to moon phases. Human disturbance affects deer movement more than any other factor.

I know what you mean, but that's a funny typo.

Do you know how they got that information?
Maybe tracking collars or webcam surveys?

From my small experiance, for the most part red is right. If you look at it from data gathered over many years of hunting, the moon phase usually correlates with the rut and also the times that hunters are generally out in the woods. In other words, its basicly coincidence that they tend to go more nocturnal around the time of full moon because hunters have been in the woods disturbing thier natural movements. Many studies over many years has shown that the moon does have a direct effect on mamalia and thier moods in general. Something about heavier gravitational pull effecting the chemestry and blood flow in the brain. This also has been shown to increase testosterone production increasing fighting and mating drives in mammals and other species. YIKES I grew a brain for a minute there, sorry. So I guess what Im getting at is while studies have shown both COULD be true, experiance has shown that its more of a corelation to hunters being in the woods more, has a more direct effect than actual moon phases.

1) If D&DH doesn't think lunar cycles affect deer movement , they sure dedicate a lot of time on it's TV program to the subject...

2) Hospital ER cases increase significantly each month during the full moon.
So do midday deer sightings and midnight car crashes w/ animals.

Coincidences???. or.....

I may be contradictory, but.....

I'm going to be the "oddball" here. I work alot at night, and I travel through very deer-infested country going to and from work. I hit 2 last year, and knock on wood, none so far this year(but I have felt like a pinball dodging them). I see much more deer on dark nights than I do on bright nights. It appears to me that they move alot more on darker nights. At least that would be my testimony. Also, when I throw a spotlight across my fields, I see more on darker nights. But I'm not trying to be different just to be different. I would like to know more about predictable deer movements during hunting hours, however, and this is a good, interesting topic.
