Will be deer hunting Maine next week; town of Montville in Waldo Co., area of Frye Mtn. Wildlife Management Area (west of Belfast).Would welcome any suggestions from MaineGuide or anyone who might be familiar with the area.
Sorry dougw that I have not got back to you before this.
I have been busy scouting for the deer season and have not been on for awhile.
I have hunted the Frye Mtn. WMA before but not for deer.
I spent a day for woodcock and grouse.
It is a pretty area with a mix of hardwoods and spruce. It also has a few apple trees in different spots.
I was in that area last year and I did find a lot of deer sign there.
But the natives in that area ride the roads steady. So be carefull when you step out into the road.
Like most hunters we all are looking for something to keep the deer on our hunting ground and to bring more deer into our hunting ground. Most of the time we just don’t have the room or funding for this to even happen. We lease a lot of smaller properties here in Kansas and we know that the farmers are needing every little bit of ground they can get to make a living. So if they give up any ground at all it’s not much. As I was talking to one farmer he told me he could give up about a half acre...
