Deer hunt from pit blind

Does anyone use pit blinds to hunt deer?

I am assuming that you mean a hole in the ground????

I personally have not but know several "old-timers" who hunt this way in thickly grown Sand Pines. They all swear by it.

I was a kid hunting with my big brother when we found a pit about 6 feet deep next to a deer trail. My brother told me that a bowhunter used it for deer hunting. I have seen a few in hill country that were dug into a hillside.

I don't know anyone who does. The most common thing I see in the woods out here are simple lean-to's. Sort of like a tee pee. They align tall branches upright around one side of a tree, and sit in it. I actually see a ton of these while hiking around.

around here it's mostly tree stands a few blinds but pits no ,you would need a sump pump or it would fill with water and snow ,even blinds are not a good idea as there are still people that will shoot at anything that moves ! but i still find a few of those
