Good example of what the rut does to these critters, and good example of why you don't spray buck scent on yourself

Did you guy's notice that the deer never once tried to use it's antlers? I've wondered why anyone believes that any wild animal won't attack. But the only ones we hear about it from are the animals concidered dangerious.
Wonder why the guy running the camera didn't go help? Maybe he was to busy running the camera!

Another article about the same attack, indicated that the "victim" was a Park Ranger" but who knows.
The Deer was definately right handed with a mean left jab. No indications of what injuries were received, but the deer didn't come "second" in this scrap.

That clip has been around a long time and shown on many of the tv "caught on tape " type shows. From what i remember that guy was in a pen and his wife was filming. He doped himself up with scent or something and told her to keep on filming.
I have been around several adult whitetail bucks in pens . They arent to be messed with and just walking by the cage will get you several grunts and a pulled back ear position soon as the velvets off.
Leonard Lee Rue calls the rutting whitetail buck the most dangerous animal in North America. While I am not sure i am totally on board with that, theres no doubt he's a nut during the rut, thats perfectly well capable of kicking your tail. I was hired a few years ago to erradicate deer in the suburbs of Maryland. The homeowner had enough when an upstart 6 pointer was facing off with the sliding door glass. When he tried to intervene the little sucka swapped his interest to him. The phone call i got...200 bucks for ever head you bring me, how soon can you be here?"
As encroachment continues to occur your going to see more and more of this. the whitetail has established himself as able to adapt. I have seen firsthand in Maryland where suburbia and huge whitetail deer populations smash together. Theres definately a conflict and peoples idea of bambi changes right quick like when hes tipping that head your way. Dont think they wont use those horms. i know two people that have been gored by deer personally. One in the woods hunting ( didnt do that check the eye for dead thing ) and the other in a pen with a "pet buck". make no mistake they can and do use them. the guy on the video would have been killed right there if that buck wanted to kill him.

it reminds me of the story down in little rock last year, in which a guy killed a deer after the deer broke into his house.

That is crazy. Funny you should talk about not using his antlers. here is a video of two bucks going at it without using their antlers. Most have probably seen this before but still cool to watch.

Havn't seen that before. Reminds me of the kids when they were young; many fights, no injuries.

No Doubt I get a little spooked when I use a drag bag heading into my stand before daylight
