Before Daylight Deer

Anyone else have this happen? Morning hunts I like to be in stand and setup at least half hour before any hint of light. Last couple years I have had deer come right to my stand, at least 8 -10 times, before I could get sit down. I'm guessing these deer are far enough away they can't see me in the darkness, upwind so they can't smell me, and can hear me walking in and think I'm another deer. No scent drag used.
If that's true, it's a good example of using the wind and get to your stand well before daylight. Doesn't seem to spook these deer at all Yes

I spooked more deer in the early morning trying to get to a locaion before there was full light that I just don't do it anymore. I figure that I have to depend totally on eyesight while the deer got the eyes, ears and nose to utilize.
I just don't like the odds being that much in the deers favour.

Just depends on the deer as to how and when I access my morning standsites.

Getting there undetected is 90% of the battle in any deer hunt in my opinion.

reminds me of a couple years ago. Night before gun season I killed a doe out of this food plot with my bow. Went to set up there the next morning and heard a gillion dear jumpin the fence and off through the woods they went.....and I even had good wind.

My son and I are going up a day early and I'm going to find a nice spot to set up. Never have had the patience to stand or blind hunt in my life. But now I have a pretty bad knee that limits me somewhat, gonna give this stuff another try. Find the spot the day befor and set up my stuff. Then next morning right at daylight I'm gonna still hunt into my place. With my track record, I should be able to tolerate the stand close to 8 min's!

Boy do I like to walk around when I'm hunting. Thumbs up

I know what you mean Don. My stand hunting is very limited to maybe an hour at best. I am a stalker and I am always wondering what is over the next hill that I am missing out on! Oops!
