Dangerous Game and SCI Expedition Safari

I watch these two shows regularly, but there were recent episodes that I enjoyed.

On DG, they profiled a young female PH attempt to take an elephant with a bow. She had to lift weights to build muscle mass to pull an 85 lb bow.

She ended up taking the elephant. It was nice to see a young woman so determined and to successfully achieve her goal.

The other episode on SCE ES was about a young male hunter who is disabled and needs leg braces to walk (barely). He hunted elk with determination and very little assistance.

The best part is when he was on a trophy bull. The kid was hyperventilating so bad you could see the rifle moving up and down with every breath. He made a perfect shot, as he said, "right in the boiler room."

It was nice to see this young man overcome adversity to take such a nice bull.

I dont get TV so don't see these shows. I'm curious. Where did this elephant get shot with a bow, what country? I thought that they required a min 375 for them? How long did it take the elephant to die from an arrow?

I'm uneasy with stuff like that. For me it falls under the heading of stunts. I read where Fred Bear killed a cape buff with a bow but that too I think was foolish. Problem being those are a lot of animal to be running around wounded and I doubt either would die all that quickly with nothing more than arrow in it. I think I've read where they kill by hemoraging.

Don't get tv? How do you survive Laugh

I will have to go back and review the show to answer some of your questions.

She shot the elephant in the heart/lung area and they waited until the next day to retrieve the elephant.
