I just pulled the trigger on a ok eight from what i could tell. pretty high rack but im a little worried my scope may have been knocked off. he was only about thirty yards when i shot but im not so certian. imll climb down in an hour or so and check
Cool beans! Congrats on letting the air out of a buck! Look forward to some pics. Send an update when you get to him.
Is it raining your way, yet? If it is, I'd get in down and track him.
Congrats again! ![]()
so i deff missed, by a lot. is my scope off or did i hit a limb to throw the bullet off? once i get down im going to check the scope with a few rounds. not heart broken because he was a managment but for sure. i pulled the picture from the trail cam.

I hate that you missed because I know how bad you want some meat for the freezer.
I would go ahead, get down and check your scope. You don't to miss another buck or better yet, would a deer and not be able to recover it.
Good luck and keep us informed.
not raining here yet but its a pretty warm morning in the low fiftys. im still in the tree but im itching to shoot a target to see if im still dialed in right. im just thankful it was managment deer not a bc deer.
Well, I made it back to the stand this am...partly cloudy with the sun shining thru..low 50's with a front on the way...
The bad news is no deer sighting yet and I think I have figured out why the drop in sightings.....HOGS!!!!!...I heard them squealing on the way in this am...I'm already dealing with them on a couple of other farms I'm hunting, now here...just my luck
The problem here is the hogs are on an adjoining property....the landowner just walked the canal down the edge of our property looking for the hogs....prime time to hunt and I have a guy walking around...I know it's his right to do what he wants on his land...it just ruins my hunt..oh well.
I'll have to regroup and figure out another place to deer hunt
So I shot twice at a target, one at 75 yards and one at 150. Both grouped within an inch so I must have hit a limb. I took the saw and trimed a few limbs back on the left side where he was so if I get a chance at another deer I don't have to worry. Never the less its a good morning when you see bucks.
Sorry to hear about the hog situation, Nothing can ruin a hunt like bacon on the move
Jim I went into the attic and pulled down my first deer that I wrote the post about. Not huge, measures about a 90 but the true brute of the woods to a kid on his first hunt.

Not huge? For a nine year old kid, that is a huuugge buck...the first several bucks I shot weren't even branch antlered bucks....just spikes and cow-horn bucks...I think I hunted 3 or 4 years before I killed a branch antlered buck and he wasn't as big as yours...I know you were in cloud 9 when you walked up to him...Here's to a huge, belated congrats!

Sorry to hear about the rough morning ECU. It's heartwrenching when you get settled in for a great morning of hunting and it gets ruined. Thank goodness it's a long season.
Very nice deer StillRollin. I've not taken a deer nearly that nice. I've never had an abundance of time to hunt either so I am not real picky and usually meat hunt first. One day soon I'll get a nice mount. Good luck guys. One more week and I am in the woods so try to save at least one good one for me. ![]()
