Dad's antelope hunt 09

Well I played guide last Saturday for my Dad and my good buddy Gannon and his dad for speed goats. We had a dad on a buck right at first light that would have booked, he was a definite trophy. He had a couple of opportunities at him at one point stalking within 150 yards, but that buck wouldn't give him the time for a shot. That buck was chasing and trying to mount does the whole damn time. We traveled a couple of miles and ran into his buck finally chasing some more does. They were about five hundred yards when we first spotted em and ran in our direction. Dad got out and set up and when that buck came by he took him broadside at a ranged 260 yards. He used his new Marlin XL7 in 270 for this hunt.

Nice buck your dad got there. I just purchased a Marlin XL7 in 30 06. Just sighted the gun in last weekend and it shoots tight groups at 200 yards. I cant wait to try it out during 2nd season.

Thanks Alpine. Their quality rifles for the price, yes sir. This buck is pretty decent I want to get a closer pic of the rack up if possible. Waiting for the mods to get back at me.

Congrats! I was doing the same thing last weekend, only it was for 13 year old kid. Gotta love antelope hunting. So much fun trying to get close.
