CVA Optima Pro vs. TC Encore

Looking at these two options for buying my first in-line muzzleloader. Looks as if the features of both are pretty much the same. Both allow interchangable barrels also. The TC Encore is about $600 while the CVA Optima is around half of that....'bout $300. Opinions?? Is the TC worth the extra money and if so, why?

Haven't shot a and Optima yet but I have handeled one. My personal opinion is that if you have never held an Encore before and you picked up and Optima you would think fall in love with it. The Optima seems well made, I really love the trigger(hats of the CVA there)but just about everything else seems to be typical CVA, not saying thats a bad thing. I own an Ecore and love it. Things just seem more well made on the T/C but if its worth the extra money its up to you.

I own a knight wolverine, encore, and a optima. As most of you know you have to find what your gun likes to shoot. Knight 295 with 70 gr, encore 295 with 110 gr, and the optima 295 with 100 gr. The reason i stick with same weight bullet is to keep it simple. Just have to mess with power this way. They all shoot well, but hands down for me is my knight. The reason i like my knight so well is that it is shorter and lighter than the other two.

What kind of hundred yard groups are you getting? I have an Optima & I'm trying to tweak it down from 2 moa.

First off I own A knight LK-93 50cal ( my son shooots it) Cva side lock and a CVA hunter bolt. I wanted an Encore but the price is, well high. I just bought an CVA Optima. I settled on 150grs Cleanshot powder ( just like 777) and 250gr T/C's shock wave bullets http://www.tcarms.com/mlaccessories/projectiles/swave.html and I'm getting 2 1/2 groups @150 yrds. Took about a 100 shots to get the barrel broke in, but now it shoots clean.
With a Optima you change change to a .45 or a .50 cal barrel just like the Encore but half the price.

It,s like this if you want the best buy the encore. If you want second best buy the cva. It,s like night and day T.C. is the best and the rest just want to try to keep up if they can ... Mess with the best die like the rest!!
