Custom Rifle Action?

remington,

I repeat that the Remington rifle is not the best choice for hunting or sniping or battle for that matter for the reasons that I gave.

A dangerous game hunter chooses a control round feed rifle for functional reliability.

The forces had no choice as to what rifle they had to use.

Yes they did and the Mod 70 failed in field trials. Not to mention they didn't bring back the claw extractor until a few years ago. Whats more dangerous than a human?

Mauser 98!!!!
Why? Reliability!! I have seen the Remington extractor rip a piece out of the rim of a sticky cartridge! The same would NOT happen with a long claw extractor like on the Mauser! All of my guns are converts from Milsurp Mausers. Mainly from Vz24 and FN Actions.
Reliable feeding and extraction and the almost bombproof steel of the actions are, in MY view, the biggest selling points!!

(Your mileage may vary...LOL)

If you were to build a custom rifle (a working rifle not a fancy foo foo rifle), what action would you use and why? It wouldn't have to be an ultralight rifle in the end but it couldn't be a heavyweight either. All opinions welcome.

What's your intended use?

The Savage action(with Accutrigger) makes sense to me, but I have a Rem 700 and love it to death(also have a Savage with accutrigger), so in conclusion, if I could get an Accutrigger type system for a 700 action, I would prefer that.(stock or aftermarket, hardly matters)
Oh Ya, ! It would have to be a Left Hand Bolt too

And I would like Santa to deliver it, if he's listening/reading :

Usage: Deer / Antelope and as a backup Elk / Moose rifle. It's a project in the idea stage right now.

Just get youself an Encore frame and couple custom barrels,,,learn to make the first shot count. Compact, and relatively light weight, be the way I would go.

If you're going from the ground up, go with a Montana 1999. You can order them already barreled for under 1200, sometimes way less. And they'll chamber them for nearly anything.

Gave them a look just a minute ago. Nice mauser setup, good price, but I still think I'll go with the old Remington 700 on this one for a number of reasons.
