We brought this topic up from the depths of the forum didn't we. lol, almost that time of the year again. But yea i don't shoot divers typically stick to mallards, widgeon's, 1 pintail, and wood ducks.

Got my first 4 teal this past fall, and they were by far the best duck I've had......

Also like Mallard, but just not alot of them out here in CA......

Ca_Vermonster, Congratulations on your first teal! And i haven't seen you around much before so i just wanted to say welcome to BGH! also sorry about those mallards i don't tend to let many get down to California over her on the western flyway.

I see many many birds fly away, whether they were 15 yards from me, or 1000. congrats on the triple. i've never done that, i have done a couple doubles, including a 1 shot 2 kill. Evil!

This has been posted here before. If you don't like diver ducks because they are strong try making jerky out of them.
Here in Maine the seaducks are strong and fishy tasting but they make for some fine jerky. Yes

Interesting.. i think I will try that.. i have never thought of that... i See a lot of divers, but i don like them, so i don't kill them..maybe ill try out some diver jerky this year.

Just a heads up. When you do make the jerky don't use liquid smoke it ruins it. I talked to some guys that did use it and they spoiled a whole batch when they did it.
You have got to put the meat into a smoker and do it the ol fashion way. This is after you put the meat into what ever you use for a brine.
