A Crappie day

Which is a beautiful thing...scooted over for a local lake for my first "real" outing of the 08-09 hardwater season. I had some new Christmas toys to try out: a Vexilar FL-8 and a new HT 2-man Magnum flip shelter; and a heater that had sat in a shed for 3 years which I wasn't sure if it would still work. Constance Lake was close at hand so if it turned into a gong show I would only be out a 10minute drive. Constance has perch, panfish, crappie and even the odd pike and largemouth. In winter though - perch and crappie are king.

I walked out onto the ice, cut my first hole and checked the Vex. Yay - it worked. So I set up the shack...Yay - that worked too. Lit the heater...Yay it worked...

Best of all...the usual suspects were there waiting for me:

and then...right on cue at sunset, the main event:

In total I got 6 crappie and maybe a dozen perch and seeds. What a crappie day Thumbs up
