Coyotes in Minnesota

Last year was my first year hunting coyotes in minnesota(central to north central Mn). Talk about humbling!! the 4 yeats before that i have been hunting in North Dakota. Its like shooting fish in a barrel there. In Mn i can call and call and call with no results. no fox no yotes. i drive around at night i can hear them i know they are there. a few friends of mine use dogs. so i bought one and good lord that lasted about ten minutes when the city hauled me into court for barking! ha, but thats Little Falls for ya. i guess what i would like to know is where in minnesota can i go where the yotes arent so call shy or are very abundant. Or, if hunting coyotes in Mn is a bust ill just go back to hunting North Dakota. thanks again !!

We have lots of coyotes in Sherburne County and plenty of state land to hunt them. I personally have not hunted them, but wish someone would there's way to many. My teenage boys are just getting into predator hunting and have been hunting them on thier dad's farm. You might try to see if hunting them is allowed in the Sanddunes State Forest or areas of the Sherburne NAtional refuge. The yotes are so brave around my place they'll come right up to my barn.

I live in Sherburne County. I read some where that part of the forest is going to be open to bow hunting

That may be true for the Sanddunes, I haven't researched that. If that were true, there likely will be more hunters than game, especially since land owners on the borders will likey hunt it along with floks from the cities. However, I know parts of the Refuge are open to hunting, but in the last few years it's been taken over by foriegn hunters who kill anything and everything that moves so I don't go over there as much I as used to - it used to be a good place to take a kid hunting squirrels, or just deer watch, but not anymore.
