Cow Elk Hunting Central Wyoming

Looking at taking Dad to Wyoming to hunt a Cow Elk. We have been Muley and Antelope Hunting in the Kacee area and would like to get any information about hunting this area. It will be a DIY hunt. We are experience White tail hunters, had success the two trips out before, but this is very new for our group. Dad is disabled and will be his last attempt to hunt the west.

Most of that Kaycee area is private or landlocked land. Were you hunting private the last time you hunted there? If so, you might want to check and see if they have some elk on their property too.

Come up north of Kaycee to Buffalo. Highway 16 goes over the Bighorns here and there are lots of side roads and loops that are easily traveled. It's usually hunted hard up here but lot's of good elk are taken here. You just have to find a good area and then make sure which hunt area it's in before you send in your applications. If you hunt the Bighorn Nat'l Forest you dont need a guide, but if you hunt the Cloud Peak Wilderness you will as wilderness area's in WY are guide only. Thumbs up
