A couple of Rugers

I'm a big fan of the Ruger #1 and have three now in my collection. My favorite is the newest to me a Ruger #1S in 45-70. I've got it dialed in with the LE 325gr load and it shoots it very well. Brought it to Maine with me last month, but did not see a bear to try it out on. The 45-70 is on the bottom wearing a Vari-XII 2-7x33 and on top is a #1A in 7X57 with a Leupold M8 4X.

Got some more fans of the Ruger #1s out there?

Very Nice

Very nice looking rifles.

While I don't own any Ruger #1's I do like them and have a soft spot in my heart for them. I'm thinking I may have to get me one or two before too long.

I'd bet you'd enjoy having one. I like their length with 22" barrels; nice and short & handy!

I've never owned a Ruger #3

I've never owned a Ruger #3 and they have gotten pretty pricey nowadays too. Those bears are just wearing me and my wallet out!  Whistling

Mine's a .243

I've had my  #1 for close to twenty years.  It's my antelope stalking rifle of choice.  Originally I ordered the #1 in .243 with the 26 " barrel & full beaver tail forearm.  The one that arrived looks like yours - short barrel & Alex-Henry forearm.   I almost sent it back but the wood on mine was so pretty I had to keep it.  Sometimes I wish I'd have got it in 7X57 but the .243 hasn't let me down on several antelope and a couple of mule deer.

The only thing I want to change now is the scope.  Got a Burris compact 2-7 but want to replace it with a straight 6x Leupold.

For some reason I've always

For some reason I've always favored the Alexander Henry forend. The #1A in 7x57 was my first #1 and it has not disappointed me. It just seems such a classic rifle & cartridge combo to me. Sounds like the .243 has worked out just fine for you though!

I actually don't have any

I actually don't have any Rugers, but I have always wanted to get one of their 10 22's.  I don't have any 22's, and I would love one to do some plinking with.  I have shot a few, and the 10-22 would be great for that purpose.

I am not one that really practices any brand loyalty.  If it shoots straight, then that's all that matters to me.  I wouldn't be opposed to having a larger Ruger rifle, just that my Remington 30-06 is a good all around gun.
