Couple of recent fishing trips

Me my nephew and uncle hit Martin lake a couple a weeks ago and did pretty good on trout and a couple of decent catfish. Hit Blue Mesa last Sunday for three hours in the morning and got three nice German browns a stocker trout and a nice fat perch. Pretty fun and good eating.

Looks like a good day and

Looks like a good day and some good eating for sure. Wife and I  spent this past weekend at Blue Mesa also. We hammered the kokes limiting out on Saturday and 11 trout mostly browns. All the fish were running 12 to 19.25 inches. Sunday we tried deep for lakers but ended up catching and releasing 5 more kokes and 7 more trout. Not a bad way to spend a nice relaxing weekend. Sorry no pictures, we seem to think about pictures during or after we are cleaning the fish.

Yeah, those German Browns were all pretty good sized. One I cought was 18 inches and the other two 17 inchers. The perch was pretty darn big at 11 inches. Blue Mesa must be pretty loaded with German Browns judging from your catch as well. I really want to get back and hit it again from a boat and get after those Kokes and Macks. Glad you and the family cleaned house on the fishing and had a great time!

Didn't get into the wipers last night :(

Here are some more pics. The last from the night fishing trip to Martin lake by Walsenburg.

Nice photos, I would love to

Nice photos, I would love to get into a pile of 10-11 inch perch. Might not be the best fight but they sure are great to eat. Where were you fishing at Blue Mesa? We fished in Cebola Basin the whole weekend. No reason to move when you are doing well. Blue Mesa is full of browns. I don't think we have ever fished big blue and not caught a limit of browns while trolling. Only time I can recall not catching a brown was last year thru the ice.

We went to the lake coming from Gunnison and one we hit it I kept to the right instead of going over the first bridge. I then went a couple of miles and turned left into the lake at I believe if memory serves me at witches creek. I know for sure if u turned right there it went into an RV park rec area. Drove pretty close to the lake and had good deep snag free water to fish from. I have an uncle who loves big perch for the best fish fries. He says their only rivaled by Walleyes. I told him about that monster perch and he got pretty excited as there's hardly any big perch or perch period in our parts. I would have loved to night fish that spot and try to get some monster browns. Caught em all on night crawlers threaded on the hook and line tipped with power bait.

Sounds like Willow Creek is

Sounds like Willow Creek is the place you fished. I fish the area thru the ice chasing lakers. Saw several small perch at the boat ramps near Elk Creek this past weekend. Think I might try my luck this winter in that area for the perch. Good luck in your future trips.
