Could use some advice on CO GMU 16, 161, 6 Cow 1st rifle

I am normally a bow hunter and have found a great area to hunt (which I will be hunting in 2 weeks) , BUT this year my wife asked if she could give elk hunting a "try".

She took our 9yo daughter to the hunters ed class, and decided she wanted to "do this hunting deal". I get this dropped on me 2 days after the draw had to be turned in. SO, I took what I could for leftover cow tags for her and my 13yo son but I usually hunt down south gmu 71/711. I could really use some advice- I am not asking to have my hand held just point me to a good general location with some opportunity on public land. they are both able to hike miles per day and we have a limited schedule. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it is great the whole

I think it is great the whole family wants to hunt. Might be a bit of a pain now but it will pay off in the long run. I am sure it will be a challange but still rewarding. Sorry cannot help with the units as I have not hunted that area. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
