Cougars in New Brunswick

I asked a Conservaation officer in chuch the other day if the MNR is stocking cougar In ontario he said flat out no he said all the sightings in Ontario and I would Imagine NB were all a result of escaped animals Talk to the Hand So I asked him if it was allright to shoot one and there would be no problems. He told me not to shoot them Think . Makes you wonder whats going on.
F.K.

Seen them

Hey

I saw one last fall between the Half Way and Renous on the Renous Highway. It crossed the road around 2AM was running low to the ground. Its tail and the way it scurred into the ditch trotting like my house cat was a giveaway.

At Christmas i spoke with my cousin who hauls timber out of the Renous area and he said he saw one near a beaverbog...it was black and at first he thought it was a bear until he got close enough to see it get up and run off.

I saw a black and white picture taken in the 50's showing my uncles brother after he shot a black one in the Plaster Rock area.

So yes they are there...but probably in low numbers

Black and white photo

Hey, in May of 04, 15mins south of Fredericton a couple KMs of the Hanwell road, I heard a LOUD hair raising scream that started with no warning and lasted maybe a couple minutes. Sounds like what a lot of people describe as a women beeing slowly killed or thrown off a cliff. At the time i new nothing of cougars maybe beeing in eastern canada. a year or so of wondering what in the world i heard, i started reading about cougars in NB and what they sounds like, and how they are now confirimed in Fundy park. can u make a copy of this photo, and if anyone has a pic or video that would be interesting to see!
